"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" Kuala Lumpur, 6 May 2008 "I have learnt often that the shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. Tonight our prayers are indeed answered. I am proud to say that together, we have managed to meet our fundraising target of over RM500,000 through table sales and special donations alone! I would like to point out that a full 100% of all proceeds of the silent auction, as well as table sales, will all be donated to these 3 groups. I thank you for your hearts as they are enlarged tonight. Your enlarged hearts will I am sure enable you to contain more happiness and joy as it has mine," said Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh in his speech at the Climate Change Week Gala.
YTL announces green arm - YTL-SV Carbon Kuala Lumpur, 2 May 2008 I am really heartened by the recent AXA Life survey in early April 2008, which suggests Malaysians display higher-than-average concern on the subject of climate change and global warming...Simply put, we have no doubt that energy and green technology is set to be the largest economic opportunity we've seen so far this century. To quote my friend and famed Economist Jeffrey Sachs, "The defining challenge of the 21st century will be to face the reality that humanity shares a common fate on a crowded planet."
"It is time to make a choice. When you have to make a choice and don’t make it, that is in itself a choice!" proclaimed Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh at YTL's second Climate Change Week Conference on 2 May 2008.
YTL Corporation launches Climate Change Week 2008 with premiere of "The 11th Hour" Kuala Lumpur, 30 April 2008 "A renowned study estimated that it would cost a whopping USD$33 trillion to replace the goods and services provided for free by Nature. Considering how Nature does twice as much for us than all the global economies combined, it is nothing short of negligence how its value is not factored into the modern economic equation", said Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh at "The 11th Hour" Film Premiere, one of the many exciting events held during YTL's Climate Change Week 2008.
YTL's 2nd Climate Change Week 2008 Kuala Lumpur, 12 April 2008 "This year, our Wessex Water has increased the total amount of renewable energy generated from 21GWh to 25.8GWh. This is indeed significant because it equates to almost 39% of our total energy use, compared with the national water industry figure of 14% in 2005 and 2006. Following the increase in our use of renewable energy over the last 2 years, the levels of all emissions have fallen considerably. For example, the level of sulphur dioxide we emit each year has been reduced by over 60% in the last decade. With these results, we are pleased to say that Wessex Water is currently meeting our target path of reducing emissions by 60% between 1990 and 2050, as prescribed in the UK Climate Change Bill." said Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh
Managing Director, YTL Corporation Berhad in his speech during the Launch of Climate Change Week 2008.
In Praise, Of Praise! YTLcommunity, 24 March 2008 We must remove the miserable idea that God craves for our praises out of His vanity. C.S. Lewis noticed that all enjoyment spontaneously overflows into praise. Men spontaneously praise whatever they value. I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because it completes the enjoyment. The more value the object, the more praise we would accord it. Therefore God should be center of our praise as He is our most valuable. It is along these lines that we can understand that ‘Heaven’ is a state in which angels now, and men hereafter, are perpetually employed in praising God. The Scotch catechism says that man’s chief end is ‘to glorify God and enjoy Him forever’. Fully to enjoy is to glorify. In commanding us to praise Him we glorify Him. In Glorifying Him, he is inviting us to enjoy Him.
