Kuala Lumpur, October 23, 2007

?

Starhill Gallery together with Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Malaysia brings you on an unforgettable journey of glamour and glitz with ‘A Journey Through Time’

?

Taking place from the 3rd to 12th December 2007, the event dubbed as Asia’s largest watch and jewellery showcase will feature over 100 luxury watch brands and exquisite jewellery for the first time in Malaysia.

?

‘A Journey Through Time’ is held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and the country’s 50th Independence anniversary. The initiative by YTL’s Starhill Gallery is expected to boost tourism while taking advantage of Kuala Lumpur’s Duty Free haven on branded goods.

?

‘A Journey Through Time’, an embodiment of that passion, is anticipated to be an annual occasion that exudes prestige, style and glamour. This is why we are working with one of the most authoritative magazines globally, Forbes, to promote this very important event. It will be the event that the well heeled of Asia will look forward to, this I am sure!” said Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh, Managing Director of YTL Corporation Berhad.

Also making its grand appearance in Asia for the very first time is the ‘Roger Dubuis Movement Exhibition’, which was hosted during the 2007 edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH).

Guest of Honour YB Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Minister of Tourism Malaysia urged the private sectors to echo the works of YTL’s initiative in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country by providing quality tourism events and activities in Malaysia.

Text of Speech by Tan Sri (Dr.) Francis Yeoh

Speech by Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Francis Yeoh,

Group Managing Director, YTL Corporation Bhd Group

Press Conference for ‘A Journey Through Time’ with the Ministry of Tourism,

23rd October 2007,

The Ritz Carlton, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Our Guest of Honour, YB Dato’ Seri Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor, Minister of Tourism Malaysia,

Your excellence, honoured guests, members of the media,

Ladies and gentlemen,

Thank you for coming here this morning, I appreciate it very much.

The year 2007 marks an important milestone in Malaysia’s calendar. Not only did we celebrate 50 years of independence, or Merdeka, we also extended a warm invitation to the world to visit our great nation via the Visit Malaysia Year 2007 campaign.

As a leading Malaysian corporation that shares the nation’s vision, Starhill Gallery decided to signify this milestone with a special event that will put Malaysia on the global and regional map.

With support and endorsement from the Ministry of Tourism, Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, will host the biggest luxury watch and jewellery showcase in Asia. Themed ‘A Journey Through Time’, this important partnership will feature numerous luxury brands that will draw high net worth individuals and discerning tourist flows from around the region and beyond.

Unlike BaselWorld in Switzerland, ‘A Journey Through Time’ is a marked difference in that it is retail - focused more than trade or manufacturer-skewed. This event is indeed the watch connoisseurs festival.  Over 100 luxury brands with unique and exquisite pieces will be made available to discerning watch collectors for the first time.

Starhill Gallery, has firmly established itself as a “Global Fine Watch Retailer”, currently hosts over 100 luxury brands showcased on its ‘Adorn’ Floor and Indulge Floor. It houses some of the largest stand alone watch boutiques in the world.

Titanic DNA Extreme Rust

Not only will Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur be the desired destination for luxurious experiences, ‘A Journey Through Time’ will be an ideal platform to demonstrate Malaysia’s world class service and genuine hospitality, a corporate philosophy in which the YTL Corporation clearly advocates. Indeed our hotels and spas both in the city and also our resorts continue to win globally recognized awards year in and year out.

Not only will such a prestigious event bring further economic benefits, it will have other cascading multiplier effects on the hospitality business and the M.I.C.E (Meetings Incentives, Convention and Exhibition) market. This will accelerate the Ministry of Tourism’s vision of developing the Malaysian tourism industry into a sustainable the number one income generator.

Ladies and gentlemen, horology, which is a study of devices to measure time, has long fascinated Mankind. From the humble sundial to contemporary quartz watches, these chronological devices have evolved to intricate and sophisticated timepieces which have become objects of desire and collection. This passion for exquisite, well-crafted timepieces continues to captivate and grow at an unprecedented pace, especially for the discerning Asian collectors.

‘A Journey Through Time’, a embodiment of that passion, is anticipated to be an annual occasion that exudes prestige, style, glamour. This is why we are working with one of the most authoritative magazines globally, Forbes, to promote this very important event.  It will be the event that the well heeled of Asia will look forward to, this I am sure!

What a befitting close to VMY 2007, as ‘A Journey Through Time’ will be held from 3rd December to 12th December 2007, commencing first with a Gala Night hosted by YTL Corporation and Forbes on the first night of the showcase, and a second gala the next night hosted by Tourism Malaysia.

On show at the ten-day event will be exquisite jewellery and watch items reflecting the latest trends in the industry and exhibits including rare timepieces and jewels, special limited edition collections and timepieces, will be shown to the Asian public for the first time. Top brands like, Van Cleef and Arpels, Boucheron, Audemars Piquet, Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis, Jaegar-LeCoultre, Chopard, Ulysess Nardin, Corum, Muehle Glashutte, Vacheron Constantine, Korloff, Omega, Rolex, Armand Nicolet, Versace and many more will be participating in ‘A Journey Through Time’, touted as exhibiting the world’s most beautiful timepieces.

I have long believed that Time is the ultimate luxury, so spend it well! With the launch of ‘A Journey Through Time’, and with Starhill Gallery recently being awarded one of “Asia’s Most Beautiful Shopping Mall” by ForbesTraveler.com, this exclusive and exciting year-end event will be the arbiter of “The World’s Most Fabulous Timepieces” for years to come.

I would be remiss if I do not congratulate YB Dato’ Seri Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor for his dynamic leadership in shaping Malaysia’s tourism and leading it to a higher level and thank his dedicated officials from the Ministry for their kind support.

I would also like to thank everyone for being here today and I look forward to welcoming you to Starhill Gallery for ‘A Journey Through Time’ this December 3rd.

Thank you and God bless all of you.
