INTEGRATION: Kurup urges all groups to stop racial and religious provocation KUALA LUMPUR: MINISTER in the Prime Minister's department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup is appealing to all quarters to stop racial and religious provocation to maintain peace and harmony in the country.

Kurup said since the formation of the National Unity Consultative Council, the government had been promoting the unity agenda, adding that the National Unity and Integration Department and NUCC would look into complementary law to resolve hate speech. "We have received feedback and proposals on how to strengthen unity and integration and are in the final stages of drafting the National Harmony Act.

"The recent weeks have been a testing time for the government in maintaining peace and harmony in the country. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has warned that stern action could be taken against anyone touching on sensitive issues or taking action that could lead to racial conflict."
