Malindo Air Opens City Ticketing Office And Check-In Services at KL Sentral

Kuala Lumpur, Jan 17, 2017

Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia, YB Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi, today officiated Malindo Air’s new KL Sentral city ticketing office and check-in service to facilitate and give convenience to their customers who will now be able to check-in at Malindo Air’s counter at the KLIA Ekspres Departure Hall. Check-in can be done up to three hours before their flight and the customer’s luggage will be checked through to their final destination from KL Sentral.

The cut-off time of three hours before departure would be necessary to facilitate their check-in baggage transfer to KLIA. Travellers just need to purchase a valid KLIA Ekspres train ticket to use this dedicated service.

Deputy Minister of Transport Malaysia, YB Datuk Azia Kaprawi said, “With a non-stop airport transfer from the city to KLIA via the KLIA Ekspres, the high-speed train with departures at every 15 minute interval, it is definitely another convenient travel experience, hassle-free without the checked-in baggage in tow, and bypass check-in queues at KLIA. This convenience that we provide to travellers will certainly help woo tourists to our country. As tourism is a key revenue generator for the country, everybody has to play a key role in providing the best experience at every touchpoint for travellers.”

CEO of Malindo Air, Chandran Rama Muthy said, “The city check-in service that we are offering is another milestone for us as we build a stronghold in Kuala Lumpur. The city centre check-in service at KL Sentral will strategically enhance the travel experience and improve our product offering to our ever growing customers.”

Chandran also added that KL Sentral Ticketing Office is the third city ticketing office after the offices in Medan Tuanku and NU Sentral. The KL Sentral Ticketing Office is able to provide ticket purchase convenience with 16 ticket counters with a capacity to serve 20,000 customers a month.

Meanwhile, Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, Executive Chairman of Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd said, “Kuala Lumpur is one of the few cities in the world that provide in-town check-in services, where passengers can check in luggage within the city before they head to the airport.

After 14 years of operations, we are proud to put on record that the city check-in facility has a 100% delivery record for checked in luggage. As added security, ERL introduced x-ray luggage screening in August last year, on top of the normal luggage screening already being conducted in KLIA.”

ERl is also proud to have received delivery of its new KLIA Transit train last October. It was the first of six train sets to be delivered, for KLIA Transit as well as KLIA Ekspres. The new trains are expected to be in operation on Quarter 2, 2017.

The additional new trains will reduce congestion, especially during peak hours for KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, and greatly increase service reliability with more redundancies in systems and train sets.

Tan Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh also said that the new trains will be able to provide greater passenger comfort with better air-conditioning, added handrails and more spacious legroom for facing seats.
