The prestigious Tourism and Culture Gala Night: Watch and Jewellery of the Year Awards Presentation 2016, JeweLuxe® showcase and performance by renowned British mezzo-soprano Ms. Carly Paoli opened the 10-day event which will run from 4th to 13th November 2016 at Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. “A Journey Through Time was created nine years ago in 2007 to position Kuala Lumpur as the destination for connoisseurs and enthusiasts of watch and jewellery to congregate and celebrate artistry and craftsmanship. Guest of honour at the event was Yang Berhormat Datuk Mas Ermieyati binti Samsudin, Deputy Minister of Tourism & Culture, Malaysia. The annual Tourism and Culture Gala Night: Watch and Jewellery of the Year Awards Presentation 2016 opened the event this year with a mesmerizing performance by critically-acclaimed British mezzo soprano Ms. Carly Paoli. The sensational performer recently performed with famous tenor Andrea Bocelli on his UK Tour in October 2016. She enthralled guests with her enchanting voice and repertoire before the seven coveted awards were presented. 30 discerning pieces across 15 distinguished brands were nominated and winners were selected by a panel of international judges that includes horology experts and renowned collectors. The seven awards presented were Starhill Gallery Favourite Ladies’ Watch Award, awarded to Bedat and Co for their watch Ref 324.450.800; Starhill Gallery Favourite Men’s Watch Award, which went to Speake-Marin for their London Chronograph watch; Starhill Gallery Watch with Complications in Movements Award, won by Ulysee Nardin’s Freaklab watch; Starhill Gallery Timeless Jewellery Award, which went to Gubelin for their ring The Story of a Seahorse; The YTL Spirit of Classical Art Award, given to HYT for their watch the H2 Tradition; The Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia - Most Revered Award, conferred upon Garrard’s Peony Necklace and Earrings; and The Judges’ Choice Award, which Moritz Grossman’s Benu Tourbillon was honoured with.
