Serving Up The Latest Fashion Offerings At Starhill Gallery Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016
Kuala Lumpur, April 6, 2016
Starhill Gallery Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2016 opened amidst much glitz and glamour in the heart of Bukit Bintang. The four-day event was a magnificent showcase of the latest fashion trends, and guests were not disappointed with the latest offerings from Starhill Gallery’s exclusive designer labels; Debenhams, iKarrtini, Kenzo, Khoon Hooi, McQ Alexander McQueen, Mita Tam Style Studio, M Missoni and Valentino.
Glamour and sophistication was on full display on Starhill Gallery Fashion Week’s catwalk. Valentino’s collection displayed a very personal narrative journey evoking a host of emotions and spirituality, sensuality and human touch. Kenzo followed the global traveller with an unexpected mix of elements. The McQ by Alexander McQueen collection was all about versatility with its short and sharp, and long and fluid designs. M Missoni channelled the unique spirit of the circus with its playful and upbeat designs. Khoon Hooi’s collection evoked a more abstract feeling of freedom and light, inspired by a life painting of a meadow on a black canvas. Marrying traditional and contemporary Malaysian designs, iKarrtini’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection encapsulated the true spirit of Malaysia. Mita Tam Style Studio flirted with light patterns and colourful floral dresses for both casual and formal occasions. Debenhams put on a display of the latest British designs for those looking to add a bit of a British flair to their collections.
The opening night culminated with a special fashion showcase by Monique Collignon, a Dutch (Haute) Couture brand from Amsterdam. Featuring 36 beautiful pieces from her latest Spring/Summer 2016 collection, Monique’s vision was all about empowering women, and has an added surprising element to it. Her entire collection was made of high quality fabrics created from recycled plastic bottles by Waste2Wear, highlighting the push to find more environmentally sustainable ways to drive the fashion industry forward. Also on display was the Monique Collignon Couture Light 2016: The Conscious Collection exhibition, featuring pieces designed for celebrities including Giuliana Rancic, Carly Steel, Celinde Schoenmake, Becky Baeling-Lythgoe and Carice van Houten.
Guests received the star treatment at the launch party, sipping on G.H Mumm Champagne and Absolut Hibiskus cocktails, and nibbling on exquisite handcrafted canapes prepared exclusively by Shook! Restaurant’s Executive Chef Richard Sawyer. Further adding to the luxury of the night’s offerings were Armani Dolci’s exquisite chocolate sampling, complimentary ice cream by Inside Scoop and pampering by BMIC Nail Spa with their nail services which included a hand massage, manicure and nail art design. Guests were also able to take away a souvenir photo of their night from the Wowgram located on Starhill Gallery’s Adorn Floor.
