A Journey Through Time IX Begins with Stellar Fashion Show by Julien Macdonald
Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2015
Asia’s premier timepiece and jewellery showcase, A Journey Through Time officially kicked off its ninth edition in style at a grand gala dinner at Shook!, Starhill Gallery.
A Journey Through Time, held at Starhill Gallery, Kuala Lumpur’s premium shopping and lifestyle destination has seen world debuts of timepieces, one-of-a-kind jewellery pieces, boutique launches of exclusive brands and has welcomed world class performers onto its stage since the events inception in 2007.
Gracing the event were Guest of Honour, Mr Wee Choo Keong, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia. Also present were Dato’ Yeoh Soo Min, Executive Director of YTL Corporation Berhad and Prof. Dato’ Jimmy Choo.
Launching the event, Joseph Yeoh, Vice President of YTL Land & Development and YTL Hotels & Properties said, “Art, Science, beauty, precision are elements that make a true work of art. A Journey Through Time is a celebration of all these attributes, offering us well-curated experiences to appreciate the stories and passion behind every perfectly-crafted timepiece or beautifully designed and set piece of jewellery.”
As a leading event of its kind in Asia, A Journey Through Time has evolved over the years to reach out to younger consumers who are beginning their journey of appreciating and collecting watches and jewellery.
Guests this year were treated to a sumptuous meal at Shook! prepared by YTL Executive Chef Richard Sawyer while enjoying a special fashion show by Welsh designer Julien Macdonald.
It was a dazzling showcase of red carpet gowns and bespoke pieces by one of UK’s top designers. Julien presented eight specially-designed pieces – never seen before – which was inspired by his travels to Malaysia and Bali alongside his collection from the latest London Fashion Week.
The evening was followed by the unveiling of the nominees for this year’s Watch & Jewellery of the Year Awards. The results for the coveted annual awards will be announced at the Tourism & Culture Gala Night on the 27th November 2015.

The youngest-ever male solo artiste to debut at Number 1 on the British Charts, Gareth Gates rose to fame through Pop Idol, Britain’s television music competition. Gareth drew huge applause and had guests out of their seats and dancing as he belted out popular tunes from the early 2000s.
