Ralph Dixon aims to conquer Marathon Des Sables again for Malaysian AIDS Foundation
Kuala Lumpur, February 24, 2014
Ralph Dixon, Director of Environmental Investments, YTL Corp Bhd will be running the 250km Sahara ultra-marathon (Marathon Des Sables) in April 2014 with fellow Malaysian, Jeff Lau, to raise money for the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), specifically for women and children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, and for the MAF Red Ribbon Youth Programme.
In 2010, Ralph managed to raise over RM100,000 for the MAF doing the same grueling race due to the very kind support of Munchy’s, Jobstreet, Sime Darby Foundation, Ministry of Youth and Sports, L’Oreal, Shell, Air Asia X, and some very generous individuals. Ralph will be paying all costs relating to the race participation of about RM25,000 which will be his contribution to the cause.
The MAF would appreciate any donations to help people less fortunate than us affected by this terrible disease which requires active testing and treatment.
Speaking about his previous experience, Ralph said, "In 2010 after I crossed the finishing line I swore I would never go back and do the same race again. However, funding for the MAF has been cut back, and I would be so grateful for any response from you, and of course even more grateful for confirmation of any contributions to the fund-raising effort – 100% of the funds raised will go to the MAF."
